Two Besties, One Big Calling
Some friendships are simply meant to be.
Maria and Ava met in high school, but it was during nursing school at Wayne State University where their bond truly deepened. Long study nights, early clinical mornings, exams that felt impossible, and the kind of laughter that carries you through it all, they’ve walked this road side by side.
Photographing them on campus felt so full circle. The historic stone buildings, the spring light filtering through the trees, and two best friends standing on the edge of everything they’ve worked for. There was such a calm confidence about them, the kind that only comes from earning something the hard way.
They each chose paths that speak so beautifully to who they are.
Ava is stepping into her career as a Labor and Delivery nurse, bringing life into the world, steady hands and a compassionate heart guiding families through their very first moments.
Maria will be serving as a NICU nurse, caring for the tiniest, most fragile patients with skill and tenderness.
Their friendship is one of my favorite parts of this story.
Watching them hold their nursing stoles, smiling in front of Old Main, I kept thinking about all the families who will one day be impacted by these two women. The babies who will take their first breaths in Ava’s care. The tiny fighters Maria will advocate for in the NICU.
Ava and Maria, what an honor it was to document this chapter. Your friendship is beautiful. Your calling is meaningful. And your futures are so very bright. 🤍
