I’m Sarah Blanchette-Swarz, the Michigan photographer and artist behind SBFinePhoto. Based in Oakland County and serving clients throughout Metro Detroit and beyond, I create warm, artful photographs that preserve the people, connections, and moments you never want to forget.

My love for photography began in 2007, when I picked up a camera as a 14-year-old high school student. Nearly two decades later, I’m still drawn to photography for the same reason: it allows us to hold onto the fleeting pieces of life—a familiar laugh, a quiet glance, a tiny hand, or the beautiful energy shared between the people we love.

My approach is heartfelt, creative, and centered entirely around you. I want your photography session to feel comfortable and genuinely enjoyable, never stiff or overly staged. Together, we’ll create images that reflect who you are and what this season of your life truly feels like. The result is more than a collection of beautiful photographs; it’s a visual record of your story.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Studio Art Photography from Oakland University and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. My background in visual storytelling, fine art, and communications shapes every session, allowing me to combine thoughtful storytelling with an artistic eye and professional attention to detail.

Outside of SBFinePhoto, I’m a nationally exhibited photo-based fiber artist who brings photography and textiles together to explore family, memory, and connection. I’m also a marketing and events professional at Oakland University, a co-founder of Critical Stuff Collective, a wife (to Joe who is also my most trusted assistant), and—most recently—a mother to my daughter, Norah. Becoming a mom has deepened my understanding of just how quickly life changes and how meaningful it is to preserve the ordinary, extraordinary moments that make up a family’s story.

At the heart of SBFinePhoto is the belief that your life is already worthy of being photographed. You don’t need to perform or become a polished version of yourself for the camera. You simply need to arrive as you are. I’ll help with the rest.
